Spalletti: Napoli can’t afford any slip-up

Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti has said his lads can’t afford any slip as they set to host SS Lazio today.

He stated during his customary pre-match press conference ahead of the match at the Stadio Maradona.

The game will allow the league leaders to extend their significant 18-point lead at the top of the Serie A table when former coach Maurizio Sarri comes to town.

Spalletti, who pointed out that Sarri, a former Napoli manager, has certain attributes in common with him, said they like their teams being in control of the game.

The manager who noted that there is a culture of hard work and a certain way of being on the pitch on the team said there is a mindset and some of the characteristics that were started by others and former Napoli players.

Speaking on the goalscoring form of Victor Osimhen, who will be hoping to continue his eight-game scoring streak in the league today, Spalletti said the Nigerian striker is one of those who deserves to play for quality and experience.

Due to his quality, the manager noted that it has been easy to work with him, adding that he has an aptitude for listening and learning. This, he said, always gives the possibility of moving forwards.

With the way Pertonopei has been performing, the Scudetto is already seemingly within touching distance.

Meanwhile, Spalletti is more interested in building long-term success with Napoli rather than focusing on short-term goals.

Noting that managers dream of success when they get the job, Spalletti aims not to win at all costs and then fail the following year.

The manager remains adamant that they can’t afford any slip-up despite the enormous 18-point gap between the Partenopei and their closest competitor Inter.

He added that the gap is not considered, as they have to evaluate every game in the same way.

“Anything can happen, small details are enough to change everything. That’s how it works,” he added.
