    Update On 2020 Paris Masters

    The 2020 Paris Masters is underway and we are down to the round of 16. The tournament does features some top ranked players, excluding any of the big three. So far, it has been a very fun and competitive event. Here are some of the top results.

    Swiss player, Stan Wawrinka progressed to the next stage of the tournament after a straight set win (6-2 7-6 (7-3)) over Dan Evans. Evans hinted that this might be done with tennis for the year.

    World number 5, Danill Medvedev, who is the top seeded player in this event, sailed through to the round of 16 after his opponent, Kevin Anderson retired from the match, due to a knee injury in the second set. Anderson, who has had a lingering problem with his knees, was trailing Medvedev in the second set (5-2) after ending the first with a tie (6-6).

    Stefanos Tsitsipas ended his run at the Paris Masters after losing to Ugo Humbert in a game of three sets (7-6 6-7 7-6). Marin Cilic would play in the next round after his opponent in the round of 32, Corentin Moutet pulled out of event after testing positive for the coronavirus.

    Matteo Berrettini, world number 10, suffered an upset after losing to Marcos Giron on Tuesday. Diego Schwartzman, who made it to the semi-finals of the 2020 French Open, his best record yet, triumphed over Richard Gasquest to earn the pass to the next round. Alexander Zverev beat Miomir Kecmanovic 6-2 6-2 to make it to the next round of the event.

    In the men’s doubles, Medvedev and Jan-Lennard Struff lost to the duo Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen. Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski beat Hugo Nys and Artem Sitak 7-5 7-6 (7-5). Ugo Humbert suffered another defeat alongside fellow Frenchman, Hugo Gaston in the hands of Marcelo Arevalo and Matwe Middlekoop. Joe Salisbury withdrew from the event, after having close contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus. Salisbury and Rajeev Ram, who are the world’s best due, were replaced by another team.

    The Paris Masters, which started on November 2, would come to an end on November 8.
