Current World No.3 Simona Halep has been one of the most consistent players in women’s tennis. The Romanian has been among the best in the world in recent years and has maintained that level. She has won two Grand Slams till now, the French Open in 2018 and the Wimbledon in 2019.

The 29-year-old desires to achieve a lot more in her career before hanging her boots. In a recent interview, Halep revealed that she aims to win an Olympic Gold medal and also captain her country at the Fed Cup.

The current World No. 3 said, ” I gave everything I could at the FED Cup, it’s my dream to win the trophy, I say it’s possible, we have a strong team, we have people who are with us. I would not give up the third Grand Slam tournament, but I would put the FED Cup trophy in front of it.

“In front of them will be the Gold medal at the Olympic Games, which would close a box, which is my career so far.”

The 29-year-old revealed that her eagerness to win something for her country and therefore he keeps the Olympics Gold medal ahead of her third Grand Slam win. The Fed Cup and the Olympics win would tick off all the boxes in her wishlist.

She added, “It’s very important to be a flag bearer. I fight to make good results and to keep the flag. My plan is to play in the 2024 Olympic Games. To be a captain at the FED Cup one day. Not necessarily after I retire, to be a captain during my career. It would be an honour.”

It has not been a great start for Simona Halep as she featured at the Australian Open and reached the quarterfinals before getting knocked out against the legendary Serena Williams. Following that the World No. 3 did not feature in any other major tournament and her fans will finally get to see her in action at the Miami Masters Open next week. It will be interesting to see how the Romanian features at the big-ticket event as fitness will be an issue as she has not played for some time while the others have featured in some other tournaments.
