Jannik Sinner feels the new generation lacks the consistency in comparison to the Big Three

Italian youngster Jannik Sinner who recently lost out at the Miami Open finals against another youngster Hubert Hurkacz from Poland at the season’s first ATP 1000 Masters said that the new generation players are still not ready to compete with the Big Three. Sinner looked in great shape and played some flawless tennis at the Miami Open en route to the finals where he eventually missed out.

The youngster recently revealed how he feels that the players of this new generation are not consistent enough like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He adds how they may come up with some upsets against the Big Three but they lack the consistency to keep going for years.

“The next generation still has to show that they can beat the big three, you know, because obviously maybe they lose one or two matches, but the next generation that what I see is not ready yet to win against them consistently,” said the 19-year-old.

However the current World No. 23 feels that the signs are very bright for the future as there is a lot of talent and soon some of the players will start performing over the likes of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. He felt for that to happen it may take a few years.

“So obviously it’s good to see the new generation what’s coming after them because at some point there will be the moment. I don’t know when. It can be two years or five years, I don’t know. But the moment will come, and then after is going to be other players,” Sinner opined looking at the players from the new generation.

The Big Three opted not to participate at the Miami Open which allowed the youngsters to capitalise the chance and the event saw prodigious youngsters like Sinner and Hurkacz emerge. The Italian overcame the tough challenges from players like Roberto Bautista Agut and Karen Kachanov whereas the Polish defeated top players like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev.

With stars like Nadal and Djokovic returning to action at the Monte Carlo Masters especially in preparation for the clay-court season and Roland Garros. It will be interesting to see how some of the youngsters perform against them in those events.
