The Scottish Open Qualifiers kicked off in style on Sunday, 9th October, in Cannock as players beyond the world top ranked 16 aim to secure a place in the finals to be held in Edinburgh. While the world top ranked 16, alongside the tournament wild card, will kick off their respective games at the venue.
It was a disappointing game for [Jimmy] White as he bowed out in the qualifying stages to [Himanshu] Jain.
Jain ranked 104th in the world and dispatched a six-time World finalist following an impressive performance. White began the encounter as he raced to an opening break of 93, establishing a 3-2 lead over his Indian opponent.
However, the shocking moment came as White successfully surrendered his 3-2 lead to [Himanshu] as he failed to win his final two frames to end the game 4-3. This tournament marked the Indian’s maiden fixture in this qualifiers as he delivered a top-notch performance to match into the last 64.
Other results elsewhere see [Graeme] Dott secure safe passage to the next round after an emphatic win over [Muhammad] Asif. The brilliant Dott produced knocks of [65, 57, and 56] to round off a 4-0 win.
[Ricky] Walden was another player who qualified for the last 64 after a 4.2 win over [Peng Yisong] with breaks of [59, 69, and 61].
Welshman newbie [Dylan] Emery made a miraculous recovery of 113 scores as he bounced back from 3-1 to defeat Tom Ford 4-3 in a thrilling encounter.
