White Confirms UFC Fight Night Would Hold In Las Vegas

    May 21, 2020

So far, the UFC has managed to stage three events this month, being the first sport to come back after being on hold due to the virus and this is all due to the doggedness and relentless effort by the president of the UFC, Dana White who has strived to keep the action going the whole time. Now, he has assured us that the UFC fight for May 30 is “a go”.

What is particularly interesting about the May 30 fight night is that it would take place at the UFC Apex in Nevada, home of the UFC. No sporting event has been held in Nevada since March as the Nevada Athletics Commission has been very quick and strict to suspend all sports in the district.

Initially, White slated the fight for May 23, but the NAC was yet to call off the suspension. Moving it to the 30th is also without the approval of the NAC but some people think things would resume before then.

White made the confirmation to the Las Vegas Review Journal on Wednesday morning via text stating, “we are a go on the 30th”. One thing no one can do now is doubt the president as he has made things happen even when people doubted.

He saw that UFC 249 held even after the venue became an issue. The fight later held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida, and so did the two other fights.

The UFC Fight Night 172 would hold without fans or spectators, just like the previous three and there would be strict obedience to social distancing protocols to keep everyone safe.

The fight would be headlined by Tyron Woodley vs Gilbert Burns at the welterweight division. Other possible fights for the night include Blagoy Ivanov vs Augusto Sakai, Jamahal Hill vs Klidson Abreu, and Mackenzie Dern vs Hannah Cifers. More fixtures are expected to be added in the coming days.

The next fight after May 30 would be the UFC 250 slated for June 6 and would feature female fighters Amanda Nunes, who is the featherweight champion, vs Felicia Spencer, and the fight would also be pay-per-view.
