    UFC249 Press Conference Scheduled

    February 28, 2020

While UFC fans are gearing up for an epic fixture between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero in UFC248, which holds on the 7th of March, arrangements are being made for a pre-fight press conference between title fighters for UFC249, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Tony Ferguson.

Interestingly, the match takes place on the 6th of March, a day before UFC248, providing enough hype and interest in the game. This would be the fifth time the two have been paired to meet as at the previous occasions, due to circumstances unforeseen, the fight had never been held. But from the looks of things, this April, we would finally get to see the two go against each other and decide who is the better fighter. The venue of the match would be the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York.

The press conference, which would be held in Las Vegas, would give fans a chance to field questions to the two fighters. Already, posters for the match have been released, and we have seen the two fighters in all their glory.

Nurmagomedov, who is the current lightweight champion, holds the record for the longest win streak with 28 wins, 8 of them by knockout, and no losses. Since defeating Al Iaquinta in UFC223 and winning the title, he has defended the title two times, the recent one being when he faced Dustin Poirier in UFC242. The Russian has built a career right from his early days as a Combat Sambo fighter.

Ferguson, who is currently number 1 in the UFC Lightweight rankings, is regarded as one of the best UFC fighters ever. Winning 25 out of 28 fights, he maintains a record of 12 consecutive wins dating back to UFC166 in 2013. On the previous occasions, he was scheduled to meet Nurmagomedov, Ferguson suffered a lung problem and a knee injury in the 2nd and 4th schedule. The 4th schedule gave Nurmagomedov the chance to face Al Iaquinta to win the title.
