UFC 268: Usman vs. Covington II Preview

    November 5, 2021

This Saturday, UFC fans worldwide would be thrilled by the main fight of UFC 268 as Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington face each other for the second time. The pair first met in December 2019, when Usman defeated Covington by TKO in the fifth round. But the win did not come easy for The Nigerian Nightmare as Covington pressed him as well as he could. Still, the win was his and for months, Covington taunted him, calling for a rematch. And It is finally here.

Since December 2014, Usman has been in three fights, including two this year, against some very tough opponents, and he won all. He still has one loss, which occurred very early in his career, from 19 fights. He has now successfully defended his Welterweight Championship title four times since winning it in 2019 after defeating Tyron Woodley. From what we have seen from Usman this year, he still has all the fight in him and is ready to explode on any fighter who crosses his path. A former wrestler and UFC’s no. 1 in terms of pound-for-pound rankings, there is very little Usman fears, and that could include a rematch with someone he has beaten before.

Covington’s pursuit for the Welterweight title has brought him in contact with Usman, again. Since losing to Usman in 2019, Covington has only been in one fight, September 2020, which he won. His loss to Usman marked his second professional loss, out of 18 fights. The defeat was very painful for him then and he never failed to express himself. Hopefully, he turned all that rage into gym fuel and now has what it takes to win a fight, especially having been inactive for more than a year. For Covington, there are two things at stake, winning the Welterweight title and beating up Usman, and both have their separate thrills.

Usman vs. Covington II is the main fight for UFC 268 which would take place on place on November 6, 2021, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, United States.
