Hamilton claims first podium of the season st British GP

Seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton had his best performance this season at the British Grand Prix after finishing third to claim his first podium of the season. The 38-year-old finished behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris. Hamilton’s teammate George Russell finished fifth.

The victory means Hamilton has now climbed the podium at Silverstone for 10 years in a row, and this is his 13th year all time. It also gave him his 14th career podium.

After the race, Hamilton expressed that Mercedes still has a lot of work to do and there would be need for “serious conversations about what we are going to do moving forward.”

The British team has not had a good season so far. With 11 races gone already, the team is yet to claim a win. Since the 2022 season, all has not been well for Mercedes. They finished last year without a win, and with the looks of things, this year may not be different, although it is too early to predict.

Speaking after the race, Hamilton mentioned how McLaren have been able to get a few things right, which has resulted in an improvement in their performance, making it all the more necessary for Mercedes to have a talk to know what direction to take for a better season. He said, “I think I know exactly what we need to do, and we have got to have some serious conversations about what we are going to do moving forward

“The McLaren is proof of the direction they have gone, and it’s impressive how quick they were in the high speed. We have strengths in our car – long runs particularly are great. As soon as we have the rear end that they have, we will be on our way. That’s what we have to fight for.

“George had a really great long stint on the soft tyre, and I did also on the mediums. We have to hold onto the good bits and bolt on some other stuff.”

Hamilton revealed that the weekend had not turned out how they had hoped, even after making a few updates to the car. But he also touched on the fact that he was able to come third after starting sixth, which he never expected, and thanked the team for that.

No doubt, the guys at Mercedes are working hard to ensure they do not repeat last season by not finishing this season with a win. Already the team is second on the constructors standings, albeit over 200 points behind Red Bull. This means they have come a long way, even though there is still so much work to do.
