Will Andres Iniesta join Inter Miami?

    July 28, 2023

At the moment, renowned FC Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta, is contemplating his next career move following his departure from Vissel Kobe in early July. One potential destination that has garnered attention is Inter Miami CF, as reported by reputable portal Offsider. Notably, Inter Miami CF already boasts stars like Leo Messi and Sergio Busquets.

However, the decision-making process for Iniesta goes beyond just Inter Miami CF. He has received alluring offers from clubs both in Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Middle East. Countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where his close friend Xavi Hernandez had previously played and coached, have presented tempting opportunities for him.

At the age of 39, Iniesta remains determined to extend his professional soccer career beyond his time with Vissel Kobe, which began in July 2018 following the conclusion of the World Cup in Russia.

As he mulls over the various offers on the table, Iniesta is meticulously analyzing the pros and cons associated with each option. It’s worth noting that Mexico is not currently under consideration, despite his agency NSN having a presence in the region.

While Inter Miami CF could be an intriguing prospect, there are certain complexities to consider. The franchise’s three Designated Player slots are already occupied by Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Venezuelan striker Josef Martinez, all of whom surpass the salary cap, presenting a challenge for Iniesta’s potential signing.

On a positive note, the anticipated signing of Jordi Alba is expected to fall under the ‘TAM’ (Targeted Allocation Money) category, with a salary cap close to two million dollars. This suggests that Alba will likely play a significant role for the franchise in his second year.
