The Glazers could stay at Manchester United

    May 4, 2023

Several months of negotiations and rumors have gone by, but the sale of Manchester United has not yet materialized.

The Glazer family that owns the club had admitted to being ready to sell, something that pleased fans who despise the owners.

But despite receiving several offers, nothing is achieved. As the weeks go by, the possibility of the sale is reduced, and everything points to the possible continuity of the Glazers as full owners of the Old Trafford team.

Given the apparent refusal of the Glazers to let go of the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the main interested parties in acquiring the Red Devils, has presented a new proposal with which he hopes to convince the current owners.

According to the Daily Mail, Ratcliffe presented a new offer to acquire Manchester United, which would allow the Glazers to remain shareholders of the team after the acquisition by the British businessman.

The offer presented would allow the businessman to take a majority stake in the club of more than 50% of the shares, while the Glazers would keep the remaining 20%, thus allowing them to receive income from the team they still own.

The proposal would also involve heavy investment for the redevelopment of Old Trafford and the training grounds at Carrington, as well as a significant amount to support the club’s sporting project and to invest in the transfer market.

Sources consulted by the Daily Mail say from the Raine Group point out that the proposal could please the Glazers since having the opportunity to keep a part of United would interest them.

The other competitor to take over the club, Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, will present a final offer which would be for 100% of Manchester United.
