North Londoners Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday evening severed ties with its Argentine Manager Mauricio Pochettino just days to Saturday’s English Premier League London Derby at the Olympics Stadium against West Ham United.
Pochettino has been at the helm of affairs at the White Hart Lane since 2014 but failed to win a Trophy at the club despite moving the club from a mid-table team to a top six side.
However, the team got to it’s first-ever UEFA Champions League final last season under the manager but fell short by 2-0 to fellow English Premier League side, Liverpool.
This season has been disappointing for the Spurs faithfuls despite expanding and renovating the White Hart Lane, and the team sits in 14 on the league standings, 11 points off the top four places.
Last season the club spent 12months playing its home games at the Wednesday Stadium due to the reconstruction of White Hart Lane
Chairman of the Club, Daniel Levy, revealed that results from late last season as early this season in the English Premier League led to the decision.
“Regrettably, domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been very disappointing.”
However, he stated that the board made the decision reluctantly. Assistants to the former Southampton manager Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, and Antoni Jimenez also took the walkout of the club.
Despite winning their last three games in the League, Spurs had earlier recorded an embarrassing 7-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea and Manchester United Coach, Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked to replace Pochettino at Spurs
The Portuguese left the Red Devils almost a year ago after been let off and has since been out of managerial duty. Although, in that period, he declined the chance to be the manager at National team levels with Portuguese, China, and Spain.
Also, former Juventus Coach Max Allegri and Cherries Eddie Howe are linked according to recent reports.
Tottenham are priced at1.93 to defeat West Ham United on Saturday, West Ham are available at 3.84 to win Spurs.
