    May 17, 2021

Danny Ings found the back of the net twice Tuesday as Southampton defeated Crystal Palace, 3-1.

Ings returned to the lineup from a hamstring injury, helping his side get its first win in five matches to move up to No. 14 in the standings.

“I’ve just got to give myself the best chance,”  Danny Ings said after the match. speaks positively on his performance after coming back from his injury

Ings now has four goals and one assist in his last four matches.

Even more important, he has scored 30 non-penalty Premier League goals since the start of last season. Only Harry Kane has more with 33.

“He’s an important player for us,” Ralph Hasenhuttl, Southampton manager, said after the match when asked about Ings’ value to the club.

Ings had been out of action with the hamstring injury since late April.

Christian Benteke scored early (2′) for Palace, but Southampton just created more chances for themselves after conceding the early one.

For the second time in four days, Benteke opened the scoring within two minutes.

Chris Wood (6) and Harry Kane (5) are the only forwards with more goals in their last six road matches than Benteke (4).
