Paris Saint Germain lost only their third game in Ligue 1 this season out of 27 matches against OGC Nice. They are currently 13 points ahead of Nice in the French League title race and have been in solid form. But then their progress was halted by Nice as they bagged a great 1-0 win courtesy of a solitary goal scored by Andy Delort.
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino was very frustrated at the post-match press conference as he felt that it was a game that the Parisians should have won after dominating the game completely.
Although PSG had the lion’s share of possession they failed to create clear cut chances against Nice. The French giants had only two shots on target whereas their opponents had a total of six shots on target in the entire ninety minutes. Pochettino had no options but to regret on the chances missed by his players as Delort converted his chance to put Nice on the front foot.
The Argentine tactician criticized his team thoroughly for not taking their chances and converting them into goals. He even said a big statement that after playing like that they did not deserve to win the game.
“We dominated a fair bit, but we didn’t create a lot of chances for ourselves,” Pochettino told to RMC Sport. “We were forcing them to defend deep, and they scored in the last few minutes, that’s the way
football goes. We didn’t deserve to win, but maybe not to lose either.”
“We didn’t find any solutions in the last 20 metres, that was the issue. But we have to turn to the next game, in Madrid. We’re disappointed to lose but these are two different competitions,” he continued.
Christopher Galtier may have defeated PSG in this fixture but it is majorly impossible for OGC Nice to contest them for the Ligue 1 title as PSG have a 13 point lead at the moment.
The Parisians will now face Spanish giants Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the upcoming second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals fixture. PSG fans will be looking forward to it as they have already managed a 1-0 win against Los Blancos in the first leg courtesy of a clutch goal from Kylian Mbappe, who will look to prove his worth for PSG again this time in the Spanish capital.
