Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has tagged the club as the greatest Premier League team as the club starts preparation for the 2023/2024 Premier League season.

Pochettino, who has coached Southampton and Tottenham in the Premier League previously, joined Chelsea this summer after the end of the temporary manager’s contract with Frank Lampard, who replaced Graham Potter after an abysmal 2022/23 season in charge of the Blues.

The 51-year-old Argentine resumed Chelsea’s training ground on Monday for the first time since being announced by the club and has won 21 trophies since 2004.

“In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea is the greatest team in England; I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea means. I think our fans are excited to again be on the road of trying to win. We are excited to work with a very young team, with a different approach than in the past,” he said.

However, the former PSG boss who led them to the 2021/2022 season Ligue 1 title said he understands that the Blues need to work really hard and create a very good atmosphere at the training ground to build success for the team in the next few years.

Despite leading PSG to three different titles, he said it is a pleasure and honor to now be involved with Chelsea Football Club. Despite only resuming at the club’s training ground on Monday, Chelsea has been busy in the summer transfer window after letting go of nine of their whole starting 11 for the 2021 UEFA Champions League final in Portugal, where they beat Manchester City 1-0 to their second UEFA Champions League title.

Chelsea has seen Kai Havertz join Arsenal while Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have moved to Asia with Saudi Arabia, and clubs Mason Mount has agreed on a deal to join Manchester United while bringing Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal into the club and Christopher Nkunku.
