Norwich City Hopes To Continue League Winning Streak After Cup Exit

    January 29, 2021

Norwich City will hope to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday when they welcome Middlesborough to the Carrow Road.

The Canaries lost 1-0 to Barnsley in the FA Cup at the midweek, but they are on a three-game winning streak in the Championship and, they haven’t lost since their 2-0 loss to Watford on boxing day while they haven’t dropped points since their 1-1 draw to QPR three days after.

Daniel Farke’s side is on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions and, it could turn to six should they win against an out of form Middlesborough.

The visitors have only won twice in their last seven games, losing the other five games.

However, the bad news for the Canaries is that those two wins for Middlesborough have come away from the Riverside Stadium.

Fortunately, Norwich has been formidable at home, registering just one Championship loss at the Carrow Road this season, a 1-0 loss to Derby on Match week 4.

Norwich City leads the championship table with 53 points from 25 matches played while the visitors are in 7th with 39 points from 26 games.

Norwich City and Boro are separated on the table by 14 points as the Boro continue to push for playoff spots, 3 points behind Bournemouth in the sixth position.

Norwich City will have to navigate the game without Teemu Pukki, and Christoph Zimmermann as both players are injured.

In other matches in the Championship this weekend, Reading and Bournemouth will start the game weekend on Friday at the Madejski Stadium.

Cardiff will host Millwall, Rotherham and Swansea, Sheffield Wednesday vs. Preston, and Huddersfield will host Stoke City.

Derby County will welcome Bristol City, Brentford will hope to win against Wycombe, while Blackburn will host Luton Town.

Birmingham and Coventry, Nottingham Forest and Barnsley, then Watford will welcome QPR to the Vicarage Road.
