Norwich City Defender Worried about restart plans for EPL

    May 7, 2020

Players are worried about a possible resumption of the English Premier League despite the presence of the coronavirus pandemic, but just like fans are anxious, the players are anxious as well, especially on the guidelines that will guide the game when it resumes.

Norwich City defender Sam Byram stated this as the biggest worry among professional players who are scared of infecting their loved ones.

This is after Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, stated something similar in an interview earlier this week.

“I think that would probably be the main worry of a lot of the lads, There’s a lot of newborn babies or babies that are due, and I know some people have circumstances where a member of their family is a high-risk person.

So it’s not just us that we’ve got to think about. Everyone has got some family members they live with and say there’s 25 players in a squad, you’re then in contact with everyone who is in contact with them.” Sam Byram was quoted on pinkun.

The Premier League is due to meet on Monday as they continue to find means to resuming the league season as the UK government will on Sunday provide an update on the lockdown guidelines.

Previous meetings held saw clubs discussing the possibilities that may happen when the league resumes with games expected behind closed doors as well as on neutral venues while the possibility of each halves having less than 45 minutes is also raised.

Meanwhile, Canaries defender Byram who initially would have missed out on the rest of the season after a hamstring injury in February now stands a chance of playing again this season with resumption set for mid-June.

“I think returning to training is probably achievable, but going from training to full flight Premier League games is a big difference, in terms of fitness, sharpness, getting used to the ball again. So I think it’s just how quickly my body can adapt to it and get up to the pace”. Byram stated.
