Newcastle United Fans in Expectation of the Winter Transfer Market

    January 3, 2022

All eyes are on Newcastle’s moves in the winter transfer window.

After the takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, Newcastle has become one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.

However, they are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table and desperately need new faces to avoid relegation.

Manager Eddie Howe is said to have been allocated a generous budget to bolster the squad in January.

Apparently, the first signing the club has closed in on is Kieran Tripper. Newcastle have one of the worst defenses in the Premier League, so it is only logical that their first move would be for a top-level defender.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is not in favor of losing Tripper, especially in the middle of the season. But the player had already expressed his intention to change clubs, even trying to force his way out in the summer.

According to Spanish media reports, Atletico had put an inflated price tag on Newcastle for Tripper. But the Magpies don’t seem to mind and are willing to pay the extra price.

Anthony Martial is another player who could arrive in January at St James Park. The player has told boss Ralf Rangnick that he wants to leave the Red Devils as soon as possible.

Rangnick said: “Yes we spoke on Wednesday. We spoke at length. He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“In a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“We have Covid times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions.

“I told him as long as there is no club showing interest in him, and it should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club.

“So far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case he will stay.”

Finally, Newcastle are also in talks with the Spurs for Joe Rodon. The defender could be loaned out because he is not in the plans of Antonio Conte, who has only used him once since he arrived at the club.

Rodon wants more action, and at Newcastle, he could get it, according to The Times.
