New Manchester United signing Tyrell Malacia wants to replicate Patrice Evra’s success at Old Trafford

Manchester United have recently signed talented fullback Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and the signing has been lauded by several experts all around the globe. Recently former Dutch forward Robin van Persie also showered praise for the young fullback. The former Manchester United striker believes that Malacia is a huge talent and will fit nicely in Erik ten Hag’s setup.

The young fullback is also the Dutch tactician’s first signing since he became a Manchester United manager. Malacia joins the club after signing a four year contract with a deal to extend another year. He comes to Old Trafford from the Eredivisie where he used to ply his trade for Feyenoord. It is also the club where Robin van Persie is the assistant manager and hence his insights on the youngsters must be very valuable.

Van Persie was a fan favourite at the Old Trafford as he scored a lot of goals and was integral to the team’s success in the Premier League back in 2013. He spoke very highly of the new arrival as he is absolutely sure that the youngster will fit in nicely at Old Trafford especially under Erik ten Hag. After the signing was announced, he took to Twitter, “Congrats on this fantastic move (Tyrell Malacia)! 100% deserved, hard work pays off! To all (Manchester United) fans, I’m sure you’ll enjoy watching Tyrell represent this great club. A huge talent with great fighting spirit – I’m certain he’ll be a good fit.”

Malacia was one of the breakthrough stars in the Netherlands as he was sensational for Feyenoord making 50 appearances and was known for his great speed and calmness on the ball despite being very young.

The youngster after putting pen to paper shared his feelings as he want to replicate former United legend Patrice Evra and the success that the French defender had at Old Trafford. When asked about which former United star he looked up to in his growing days, he said, “Yes, Patrice Evra. I love his style. Everything is fast, energetic, everything.”

When asked about his style of play, Malacia ws clear that he is someone who likes to attack but his blistering pace helps him keep up with the players even during recovery. It will be interesting to see how the Dutch tactician uses him in his system. “As a footballer, I am strong in defence. I love to attack. Yeah, I have a good drive and never give up. I spoke with the coach [Erik ten Hag] and he gave me some things I have to work on but he says it will come with time,” Malacia concluded.
