Napoli plans to protect Osimhen with anti-Saudi clause

    August 7, 2023

Napoli are planning to protect their star striker, Victor Osimhen, by adding a clause that will stop clubs from Saudi Arabia from signing him

Pertonopei have held seven meetings with his agent over the development as Saudi clubs continue to buy established players to up the class of their league.

After the move of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al-Nasir, players like Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Ruben Neves, Jordan Henderson, and some other stars have left Europe for Saudi.

The Saudi clubs made irresistible offers to stars, but Kylian Mbappe, whom PSG wanted to sell, had rejected a bid, stating that his refusal to sign a new contract at the club was beyond the money.

Before joining Inter Miami from PSG, Messi had turned down an offer from top clubs in the country.

Their irresistible offers are now making Napoli start planning a clause that would protect him from interested clubs in Saudi Arabia, Sky Sports Italia details.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker wants to sign a new long-term contract with the Partenopei, hoping for a pay rise, reflecting his importance to the club.

The Nigerian, According to Skysports, is also keen on the inclusion of a release clause, giving him some control over his future.

Al-Hilal had expressed interest in signing Osimhen this summer. Reports had also suggested that they had offered him a deal worth €1m net per week.

The latest development is making Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis think about including two release clauses in Osimhen’s new contract – one for teams in Europe and one worth almost double for Saudi Arabian clubs.

The Nigerian striker has been on the radar of top clubs after emerging as the highest goal scorer in the Serie A last season.

His entourage are pushing for a €110m release clause, whilst the club wants a minimum of €150m.

This is expected to lead to further talks from both parties that are keen to resolve the situation before the start of the Serie A season.

The season will kick off their Serie A defense against Frosinone on August 19.
