Milik rejects last-minute offer from Fiorentina and Valencia

    October 7, 2020

Indications have shown that Arkadiusz Milik will be training on his own until the January transfer window opens.

This is following his refusal to allow late moves to Fiorentina and Valencia on deadline day.

The Poland striker had already turned down a move to AS Roma, prompting the Gialorossi to stop Edin Dzeko from joining Juventus.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Milik was only interested in moving to Juventus on a reported deal worth €5m a season. Juve had already signed Alvaro Morata on loan, prompting the Bianconerri to stop their interest.

His former teammate, Jose Callejon, has moved to the Viola club after his playing opportunities were reduced.

According to media reports, Milik had received a phone call from Andrea Pirlo, reassuring him the Bianconeri were looking forward to signing him. However, this reportedly infuriated Azzurri patron Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is not also ready to sell the Polish to the Old Lady.

This reportedly made Juve shift their attention to Dzeko, who agreed on a switch to the Allianz Stadium, but the move failed.

Milik was also linked with a move to Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain. Both clubs ended up signing Carlos Vinicius and Moise Kean.

The 26-year-old  will now reportedly train individually until the next transfer window, as Il Corriere dello Sport reported. Therefore, he will have to wait at Castel Volturno until then before he can openly negotiate with clubs in January and try to leave the club.

Milik, who earns €1.8m annually with the Partenopei, arrived from Ajax for €33m in 2016, scoring 48 goals in 122 competitive games.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was signed as his replacement weeks ago. The former Lille striker looked settled in the team, but he is yet to get his first goal in the team.

As it stands, the future of the Poland striker remains in doubt at the club.
