‘Messi doesn’t scare us,’ says Theo Hernandez ahead of FIFA World Cup Final against Argentina

    December 15, 2022

France defender Theo Hernandez has claimed that they are not scared of facing Argentina superstar Lionel Messi in the final of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on December 18.

Les Bleus qualified for the finale after beating a spirited Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday, December 14. Hernandez was one of the scorers for France along with Kolo Muani in the crucial clash. The defending Champions will now face Argentina in the final and will try to win their second successive World Cup.

But Argentina have also been in excellent form since losing their opening encounter to Iran. They have been inspired by the performances of their skipper Messi, who has already scored five goals and assisted three times in this campaign.

Messi delivered a dazzling performance even in their 3-0 win over Croatia in the semi-final, where he scored one and assisted another.

While Messi has looked absolutely unstoppable in Qatar, Hernandez said that they aren’t scared to face him at all. Instead, he stressed on how well-balanced the entire Argentine team is. But they are still confident of beating them in the final.

“Messi doesn’t scare us, we know Argentina have an incredible team. We need to recover well to be at our best on Sunday,” Hernandez told RAI.

Hernandez scored the opening goal in their win against Morocco in the semi-final and he was pretty solid in defence as well. He will be eager to repeat his performance once again when he meets Messi and his men at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday.
