Mbappé returns to training as PSG give update on Asensio

    September 16, 2023

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé has returned to training after suffering a minor injury during the international break with the France national team.

The PSG star was absent in France’s 2-1 defeat against Germany on Tuesday.

However, he trained generally with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates on Thursday to show that he is ready to return to action.

Before being seen train on Thursday, there had been fears that Mbappé wouldn’t be fit enough to face OGC Nice at the Parc des Princes on Friday.

However, those fears are dissipating with the latest developments.

The France captain returned to training with his teammates as usual at Le Campus on Thursday following positive clinical tests.

Meanwhile, PSG, in a statement, confirmed that Marco Asensio will be out of action till at least the end of the month as he needs to recover from a foot injury.

It was reported that the former Real Madrid attacker, who joined the Paris club this summer, was injured on international duty with Spain.

After all tests have been conducted, PSG confirmed that he will undergo treatment at least until the end of September.

This means that the Spaniard will miss PSG’s Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund, at least.

This is, however, different from the comment of the Spanish national team manager, Luis de la Fuente, who stated that he believes the attacker will be out until the next international break in mid-October.

PSG could also be without Fabián Ruiz for tonight’s clash as he is undergoing a personalised schedule after feeling discomfort in his left calf.

PSG are currently second on the log with 8 points, two points behind Monaco after four games.

OGC Nice are currently eight on the log with 6 points after four games.

PSG will hope to get maximum points here in order to begin another unbeaten run, as the team is expected to have settled down now after the summer transfer business.
