Manchester United defeats Burnley 3-1 in final match of the year

    December 31, 2021

Manchester United ended 2021 on a winning note and in the top six with a convincing 3-0 win over Burnley at the Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

Ralf Rangnick’s side took the lead in the first half through Scott McTominay in the 8th minute, but Burnley’s Ben Mee made it 2-0 after scoring an own goal in the 27th minute.

Burnley pulled one back before half-time when Lennon scored, but Cristiano Ronaldo was on the scoresheet after scoring in the second half to make it his eighth Premier League goal of the season.

Manchester United are now in sixth position with 31 points from 18 games played, but Burnley remains in 18th position and the relegation waters with 11 points from 16 matches the clarets have played so far.

Meanwhile, Belgium and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has made a stunning revelation that he is not happy with the bit-part role he has been playing at the Stamford Bridge since joining from Inter Milan in the summer.

The former Manchester United and Everton striker joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in the summer just after winning the Serie A in a deal worth over £90M.

However, he has only managed to play 18 matches and scored seven goals stating that he hopes to return to the San Siro soonest and continue to win trophies for the Italian champions.

“I’m not happy with the situation, this is normal, But I am a worker and I must not give up. I want to say a big apology to the Inter fans because I think the way I left should have been different, I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more.” Lukaku said.

Lukaku had a good time at Inter Milan, racking up 64 goals in 95 appearances.
