Man United halts Liverpool’s winning streak

    October 21, 2019

Liverpool’s lead at the top of the English Premier League table was cut to 6 points after playing out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had earlier before now won all eight of their opening premier league games before the international break, but the team failed to continue the run but successfully managed to keep their unbeaten run intact after a late equalizer in the game

Liverpool haven’t lost in the English premier league since a defeat to Manchester City in January 2019 and could have equalled Manchester city’s record of 18 consecutive who wins in the league but Marcus Rashford’s first-half strike – though controversial – gave United the lead in the first half.

There seemed to be an infringement in the build-up to the goal as video replays showed Divock Origi to have been fouled by Victor Lindelof; however, the goal stood after Video Assistant Referee’s (VAR) review deemed it a legit goal.

Liverpool were unfortunate as they also had a goal cancelled due to a handball by Sadio Mane but eventually got the equalizer with five minutes after Andy Robertson sent in a cross which was converted by substitute Adam Lallana for his first premier league goal since May 2017

After the game Jurgen Klopp showed his displeasure at VAR decision as he still awaits his very first win at Old Trafford since joining Liverpool, the visitors has not won at the theatre of dreams in their last six visits to Manchester United.

Nevertheless, they still keep a six-point gap above Premier League champions Manchester City, who won away at Crystal Palace by two goals to nil on Saturday afternoon. Both teams will now turn their attention to their respective European matches this midweek.

Manchester United are available at 2.32 to defeat Partizan Belgrade in their Europa League fixture, while Partizan are pegged at 3.13 to claim the win.
