    Riyadh Mahrez Manchester City

Man City beat Brentford, while Spurs lose at home to Southampton

    February 10, 2022

Riyadh Mahrez scored a first-half penalty, while Kevin De Bruyne assured Manchester City the win over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium with a 69th-minute goal as Pep Guardiola’s men got a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brentford.

With Chelsea absent in the FIFA Club World Cup, while Liverpool face a stern test against Leicester City on Thursday, it was a chance for the Cityzens to extend their lead to twelve points. Manchester City has sixty points from twelve games while Liverpool has two games in hand with 48 points from the same number of games.

The result leaves Brentford still searching for their first win in six matches in all competitions. However, they sit in 14th position with 23 points from 24 matches so far.

Meanwhile, Norwich City was held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace. It is a single point that would feel like three after the team took the team as early as the first minute through Teemu Pukki. Crystal Palace couldn’t find a way through the canaries until the hour mark when Ivorian Forward Wilfred Zaha scored.

Unfortunately, Zaha missed a golden opportunity to win the game three minutes later through a penalty, but he missed the opportunity and failed to convert it.

Meanwhile, it was a goal fest and drama as Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton played a 3-2 victory for the saints. Jan Bednarek scored an early own goal as saints replied with an equalizer through youngster Armando Borja in the 23rd minute.

Son Heung Min put spurs ahead in the 70th minute, but quickfire goals from Mohammed Elyounoussi and Che Adams in the 79th and 82nd minutes confirmed a victory for the saints.

There was late drama as Steven Bergwijn scored a 93rd-minute goal that was ruled out for offside by the VAR. Aston Villa and Leeds United played an entertaining fixture that produced six goals in a 3-3 draw. Meanwhile, on Thursday, it will be Arsenal against Wolves, and Liverpool will face Leicester City.
