Lorenzo Insigne agrees to join Toronto FC

    January 5, 2022

Toronto FC and Lorenzo Insigne have agreed on a deal that will see the Italian attacker move to the Canadian club as a free agent once his contract at Napoli comes to a close.

The 30-year-old forward is set to become a free agent in the summer and is preparing to take on a new challenge in Canada. The agreement between the club and player is expected to be officially announced on January 10.

According to Repubblica newspaper, a video has shown the moment the Italian winger signs the contract with Toronto FC, indicating that he has agreed with the club.

According to the details added to the video, Insigne was at the St Regis hotel in Rome, close to the Termini railway station, accompanied by agent Vincenzo Pisacane, intermediary Andrea D’Amico and his wife Jenny to sign the deal.

According to reports, Insigne will earn €11.5m per season for five years in Major League Soccer. He could also earn an additional €4.5m per season in performance-related bonuses.

If he completes the move, he will become another Italian that will be playing in the MLS. He will join fellow countryman Sebastian Giovinco at the club.

Meanwhile, Roma will be signing on loan after some developments occurred in their negotiations for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

However, they will now be signing the utility player on a dry loan without the option to buy and are exchanging paperwork today.

According to reports, the clubs are exchanging paperwork with a medical plan in London for today.

In another development, Juventus player Aaron Ramsey has rejected an approach from Premier League club  Burnley FC.

Burnley would love to add such a player to their squad as they battle relegation.

Max Allegri had removed the Wales international midfielder from his team as he is not part of his plans.

This has made Ramsey be eager for a return to the Premier League, where he can play more regularly.

However, the Welshman rejected the Burnley offer outrightly as he wants to come back to England for a more ambitious club.
