Liverpool extend unbeaten run with win over Wolves

    January 24, 2020

Merseyside club, Liverpool continued to impress on their way to winning the English Premier League unbeaten after beating Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Jurgen Klopp’s led team has only lost two points all season and also went into the game against Nuni Espirito Sanchez side on the back of a back to back win against Tottenham and Manchester united.

Liverpool had beaten Tottenham by a line goal at the New White Hart Lane stadium on the 11th of January and followed up with a 2-0 routine victory at the Anfield Stadium on the 19th of January.

Wolves, on the other hand, went into the game on the back of an inconsistent run of games that included a win against Southampton over the weekend, two draws against Newcastle and Manchester United, as well as two losses in all competitions.

Liverpool started the game brightly with Jordan Henderson heading them ahead from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.

However, it took Raul Jimenez six minutes after the restart to put both sides on level terms.

Roberto Firmino scored the winner for the league leaders six minutes from regular time to hand Liverpool their 22nd win of the season.

Unfortunately, there was a negative news for Liverpool as Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane picked up what looked like a hamstring injury.

The forward was pulled off and replaced by Japanese forward signed from the Austrian club, Red Bull Salzburg, Takumi Minamino, in the 33rd minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now leads the Premier League table with 16 points from second-placed Manchester City. The team has 67 points, while Pep Guardiola has 51 points despite having a game at hand.

Liverpool will face West Ham United in their next English Premier League game on the 29th of January, although there will be a trip to Shrewsbury in the FA Cup before then on the 26th of January.

Liverpool are strongly fancied at 1.39 to win West Ham. while the Hammers are backed at 8.23.
