Liverpool beat Bournemouth to go five points clear

Liverpool moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after Sunday’s impressive 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League. The Reds saw two of their players score a brace each as Darwin Nunez scored the first and the last goal of the game, while Diogo Jota scored his brace in between.

The first half lacked the goals as the officiating was the major focal point at Vitality Stadium, but it didn’t take long for Darwin Nunez to open the scoring four minutes after the break.

The Uruguayan was on the end of an impressive team play from Liverpool to open the scoring, and the Reds never looked back from there as they snatched a ninth victory from ten consecutive fixtures against the Cherries.

Diogo Jota scored twice in nine minutes, and his goals helped Liverpool secure their 26th win in 31 matches that he’s scored in. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with how his players approached the second half after what he described as a difficult first half of the game.

“I’m more happy after the first half because it was a tough one. We didn’t play good football. The message at half-time was that it’s still 0-0, so let’s try to be great, and the boys were. People might write a story about the half-time changes working again; you can write as well about why you have the first lineup from the beginning. It was obvious we needed to change something. We did, and it worked much better. Everything was better, the counter-press was better, we put them really under pressure, and we scored some beautiful goals; it was well played anyway. Impact from the bench again as well, so it turned into a pretty good evening.” Klopp said.

The result keeps Liverpool 5 points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal in second and third, respectively, although the citizens have played a game less.
