Lille may lose Botman and Sanchez in January

    December 17, 2021

Indications have shown that Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille could lose two of their important players in January.

They include Sven Botman and Renato Sanchez.

Although Lille intended to keep 21-year-old Botman 21 in January, a huge Newcastle United offer may be hard to turn down.

According to L’Équipe, despite interest from Atalanta, Wolves, and Sevilla in the summer, Lille may go ahead to sell him to the English club that now has a new owner that are willing to spend and build the team.

According to reports, the Tyneside club could yet prise the centre back away from the  Ligue 1 club.

Although the fee Lille wants to get from a player signed €8m last year from Ajax is yet to be known, the Ligue 1 club will see this as an opportunity to make cash on him.

According to The Athletic, there is a possible Magpie offer of €47m, which could be too good to turn down.

The young lad will also be looking at the upcoming games with Chelsea in the Champions League last 16 and a tight fight for European places in Ligue 1.

In the other news, Lille could also lose Portuguese winger Sanchez. According to the French media, Lille hopes to keep Sanches in January despite gentleman’s agreement.

As reported by L’Équipe, the future of Lille midfielder Renato Sanches remains uncertain, with the club hoping to keep the player until the summer despite likely January interest.

Although his contract expires next summer, a gentleman’s agreement between club and player exists.

This is the reason president Olivier Létang in October, said if an offer from a big club arrives, he can leave.

Lille will undoubtedly be excited if he waits till the end of the season. The Champions League knockout stages to come, not to mention a tough fight for European places in the league.

Speaking earlier this month, Sanchez pointed that interest in January was a strong possibility.
