Ligue 1 transfers: Lens confirm Berg’s arrival; Mandada faces Marseille’s exit

The winter window will officially be opened from January 1, 2022, but some clubs have already begun business.

One of such is the Ligue 1 side, RC Lens, that have this afternoon announced the signing of Norwegian midfielder Patrick Berg from Bodø/Glimt. Thus, the 24-year-old will be joining the club from January 1.

The Norway international has signed a deal with the French until 2026 and will wear the number 6 jersey for the Sang et Or.

Berg made a name for himself when he was part of the Bodo squad that hammered Serie A side AS Roma in the Conference league.

Berg, who was named player of the year in last year’s Eliteserien campaign, is now planning to leave the club he had played for in the entirety of his professional career since 2014.

Meanwhile, Troyes have expressed interest in free agent Clément Grenier. According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side wants to bring the former Lyon and Rennes player.

Having been a free agent since last summer, the 30-year-old  could be the next Troyes player.

Grenier had left eft the Brittany club at the end of last season, waiting for the right opportunity to get his career back on track since then.

Although he is currently training with Lyon to keep his fitness, he might join Laurent Blanc’s team that is currently languishing in 17th in their fight against relegation.

In another development, Marseille goalie Steve Mandanda could leave the club in search of first-team football with manager Jorge Sampaoli.

According to RMC Sport, the French international wants his future sorted after Pau López became the number one choice for the Argentine.

Wondering about the sudden change and why it was never explained to him, the club captain’s agent requested a meeting with Sampaoli, which will hold in some days.

Although he is yet to speak publicly about the situation, the 36-year-old is unhappy and will be examining his options for closing out his career.

Several French clubs are particularly interested in the experience his signing would bring in, although he has yet to make his final choice.
