Barcelona got a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid in the La Liga on Tuesday evening as Lionel Messi broke Pele’s Record for most goals for a single club.
Messi had equalled the record with a 643rd goal for Barcelona at the weekend in the 2-2 draw with Valencia.
His goal came in the second half of the e counter after Clement Lenglet and Martin Braithwaite had given Ronald Koeman’s men a comfortable 2-0 from the first half.
However, Barcelona are still a long way from the top of the log as they are 8 points off top placed Atletico Madrid and 5 points away from Real Madrid.
Ronald Koeman’s side are fifth on the log, and will need a miracle to meet up with Atletico Madrid whom they have played a game more than the Madrid side have.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid had moved clear of Real Sociedad and Real Madrid earlier on Tuesday with a 2-0 over the former.
Diego Simeone’s men scored through a Mario Hermoso’s header in the 49th minute and a powerful shot from Marcus Llorente 16 minutes from time.
Atletico Madrid 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Madrid Derby weeks ago still remains the only loss for Diego simeone’s side this season in the La Liga.
Diego Simeone’s side have kept 8 clean sheets so far so good this season and they have conceded only five times.
However, Real Madrid can still meet up with a win against Granada on Tuesday although they will have played two games more than Atletico Madrid.
In other matches, Heusca and Levante drew 1-1 Elche and Osasuna played a 2-2 draw, Valencia lost to Sevilla 1-0, Villarreal drew 1-1 with Atletico club.
On Wednesday, Getafe will host Celta Vigo, Alaves and Eibar and Real Betis and Cadiz.
