Klopp makes comments regarding latest EPL managers sacking

    April 4, 2023

On Sunday, two Premier League clubs sacked their managers after a poor run of form during the season, which ended with losses in their respective games in last weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

Leicester City let go of Brendan Rodgers after the Foxes lost to 2-1 Crystal Palace on Saturday, while Chelsea also sacked Graham Potter, who had only joined the Blues earlier this season from Brighton on Sunday in reaction to a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

The situation meant that the Premier League experienced the highest managerial sacking in a single Premier League season.

The duo’s dismissal raised the number of sacked managers in the Premier League this season to twelve. Despite the number, one of the most under fire and underperforming managers this season, Jurgen Klopp, remains on his job.

The German manager is in his worst season performance-wise as Liverpool’s manager since joining Dortmund in 2015.

Last season, Liverpool was so close to winning a quadruple only to lose the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day and the Champions League to Real Madrid in the final, denying them a historic quadruple after winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

However, this season, the Reds are not near that excellent performance and are already knocked out of the cup competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, while their chances of making the Champions League remain in the balance as they currently do sit in eighth position on the Premier League table.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that sort of performance is enough to relieve him of his Duty as the manager of the club side but says that his records from the previous season have been his saving grace.

“If it was my first season, it would be slightly different. I’m aware of the fact that I’m sitting here because of the past, not because of what we did this season. I know I’m still here because of what happened in the last few years.” Klopp said.

Liverpool will face Chelsea in their outstanding game in the Premier League on Tuesday.
