Jarrod Bowen earns debut call up to England National Team

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has been handed a debut call up to the Three Lions, England’s men’s national team, after an impressive 2021-2022 Premier League season where he helped the Hammers to a seventh-place finish and a European Conference League finish.

Bowen, 25, played 36 Premier League games for the Hammers scoring 12 goals and making 10 assists in total. He also had 3 goals and 1 assist in the UEFA Europa League, where West Ham got to the semifinal losing 3-1 on aggregate to eventual winners Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old broke out with Hereford in 2014 before moving to Hull City the same year and only moved to West Ham in 2020 and has played a total of 87 games and 21 goals. His debut may likely come against Hungary in England’s first Nation’s League fixture on the 2nd of June.

Gareth Southgate’s side will also face Germany and Italy in the Nation’s League while also handling call-ups to Tammy Abraham, who had a special season with AS Roma leading them to a UEFA Europa Conference League final against Feyenoord in Tirana on Wednesday.

While regulars like Harry Kane, Trent Alexander Arnold, and Raheem Sterling make the team, Jordan Henderson is left out alongside Eric Dier. However, Kyle Walker sneaks into the 21-man list that has Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, and Nick Pope as Goalkeepers.
