I don’t rule out becoming a club owner – Cristiano Ronaldo

    June 10, 2023

Cristiano Ronaldo is open to the idea of becoming a football club owner after hanging his boots. Ronaldo is currently plying his trade in Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr after signing with the club back in December 2023.

Ronaldo admitted he might play for another two to three years and he would like to become a club’s owner. The Portuguese international is in contract with Al Nassr until June 2025 however he is already making his post-retirement plans.

“I don’t rule out becoming a club owner,” Ronaldo, 38, told reporters during an event in Madrid for his new bottled water business venture. “It’s something I thought about a few years back. I probably would like to own a [football] club. I’m at the end of my career, two to three years maximum.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema also made a decision to move to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo iterated that the league has the potential to become a top-elite competition in the world and the top players will take part in the competition.

“I knew that by me going to [Saudi] Arabia I would open the box,” Ronaldo said. “Karim [Benzema] has gone there but I’m sure many others will follow. In two or three years, it [Saudi Pro League] will be one of the most important in the world. May all the stars come to Arabia, there are no problems with the league. What we want is competition.”

On the other hand, Lionel Messi also received a huge offer from Al Hilal but the Argentine decided to join Major League Soccer side Inter Miami CF.

In fact, players like Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, N’Golo Kante, Angel Di Maria, Iago Aspas, and Roberto Firmino have reportedly received offers from Saudi Pro League clubs.
