    Hector Bellerin Leaves Arsenal

    September 7, 2022

Hector Bellerin is a player who promised a lot and showed great potential, but at Arsenal, he never fit in, or maybe the game plan didn’t help him develop his full potential.

The Gunners signed the 22-year-old as a 16-year-old from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2011. He made his first-team debut in 2014 and quickly established himself as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice right-back.

Eleven years later, Bellerin returns home having worn the Arsenal shirt as many as 240 times, scoring nine goals and dishing out 29 assists during his time in England.

Bellerin reached an agreement with Arsenal to terminate his contract with the club, which ended in 2023; in this way, the player can join Barcelona as a free agent.

Arsenal has been looking for a way out for Bellerin for quite some time.

In 2021, the player arrived at Betis on loan from the London club. During his year in the Andalusian capital, he fell in love with the club, the city, and his teammates. He had intentions of staying, but his contractual situation at Arsenal and a salary that was too high to assume complicated things.

In addition, the Gunners had put a high price tag on the player, which made it difficult for any club to present an offer.

Because the player did not count much in the Gunners’ plans and after receiving the offer from Barca, he has sat down with Gunner boss Mikel Arteta to discuss his amicable departure from the club.

In order to fit into Barca’s plans, Bellerin had to accept a cut in his salary, but the player is happy to return to his city.
