“He will succeed for us,” Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann backs new signing Sadio Mane despite poor show against Barcelona

Bayern Munich were once again victorious against Barcelona at the Allianz Arena as they registered a 2-0 win over their Catalans in the Champions League. But despite the win the Germans were second best in the first half with Barcelona dominating the play and creating several chances but they simply were not clinical enough and things took a major turn in the second half as Bayern scored two big goals through Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane as they earned a huge win in the Champions League.

After the game, Julian Nagelsmann shared his concerns over Sadio Mane who looked out of sorts for the German Champions. The former Liverpool man tried his best but never looked comfortable in the game. However the young German coach backed the Senegelse forward as he shared how he was a star at Liverpool and will take time to settle in Munich.

“He put in so much for Liverpool,” Nagelsmann spoke in support of the new signing in June. “He’s a new signing. He just needs to adapt. He was trying. I’m certain he will succeed for us.”

The Senegal international failed to register a single shot against the Catalans which extended his goal scoring drought to four games now. But thankfully Mane’s teammates were up for the task as Hernandez headed in the first goal at the 50th minute whereas Leroy Sane pierced through the Barca defense and then squared it past Marc Andre ter Stegen to double the lead in the 54th minute.

“In the first half, Barcelona had the better chances than us – our final ball wasn’t quite there,” Nagelsmann admitted as homecoming striker Robert Lewandowski failed to capitalize on the chances that he got against his former side. “Things got much better in the second half, and our efficiency made the difference today.”

Barcelona boss, Xavi on the other hand was furious with his team as he thought they played better football than the hosts but he was left ruing the missed chances and the mistakes that allowed Bayern to score twice in a space of five minutes. He felt that the match was there for them to register a win.
