Goals galore on Boxing Day Premier League fixtures

    December 27, 2021

The Etihad stadium saw a nine-goal thriller while the Carrow Road recorded five from Arsenal, there was a five-goal thriller at the London stadium, but Chelsea managed three against Aston Villa on a goal-laden boxing day.

First Manchester City had a fantastic first half against Leicester City, scoring 4 goals in the first 30 minutes of the game. There were five more goals to follow in the second half.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the gates of goals when he fired home from inside the box in the fifth minute before Riyadh Mahrez doubled it from a penalty nine minutes later.

Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling both scored in the 21st and 24th minutes to make it 4-0 in halftime.

The Foxes fought back through James Maddison, Ademola Lookman, and Kelechi Iheanacho in the first twenty minutes of the second half.

However, what could have ended up as a competitive game to the end was put out by Laporte and Sterling in the 69th and 89th minutes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal scored five at Carrow Road against Norwich City to move comfortably into fourth. The goals started with Bukayo Saka in the fifth minute of the game, while Kieran Tierney scored before halftime.

Saka scored his second before the hour mark. Alex Lacazette and Emile Smith-Rowe added two late goals.

Meanwhile, West Ham lost 3-2 Southampton. The saints went ahead in the 8th minute before the Hammers equalized through Micheal Antonio; James Ward Prowse put the visitors in front before Benrahma equalized at 2-2 before Jan Bednarek won the game for visitors.

Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Lucas Moura were on target as Tottenham beat ten-man Crystal Palace 3-0.

Jorghino scored a brace of penalties while Romelu Lukaku was also on target as Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-1.

Games involving Liverpool v Leeds, Wolves, and Watford, as well as Burnley Vs. Everton were all postponed due to the break out of COVID-19.
