Goals galore as Premier League fixtures light up Monday night

    May 10, 2023

Three Premier League held on Monday evening, with each of them producing at least five goals in each of them. The first game of the day saw Fulham host Leicester City at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers were the ones who went out in front and scored in the 10th minute through Willian. They doubled their advantage when Carlos Vinicius also got on the scoresheet in the 18th minute.

Tom Cairney thought that he had put the game to bed in the 44th minute with a third for the home side, only for the second to turn out to be a five-goal thriller. Cairney got his brace less than ten minutes into the second half before Harvey Barnes pulled one back for the visitors in the 59th minute.

The Foxes would have made it 4-2 if Jamie Vardy had scored a penalty six minutes after the hour mark, but Willian got his brace in the 70th minute to make it 5-1. James Maddison scored another penalty while Harvey Barnes made the scoreline respectable to end it 5-3.

The result meant that Leicester City dropped into the last relegation spots, especially as Everton boosted their chances of Survival with an incredible 5-1 victory away at Amex Stadium to beat Brighton.

Braces from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil, plus a first-half own goal from Jason Steele, secured the win that put the team two points above the drop zone.

At the City Ground, Taiwo Awoniyi a first-half brace to put Nottingham Forest on the path to a 4-3 win. Morgan Gibbs White and Danilo added two more goals for the home side while Carlos Alcaraz, Lyanco, and a late James Ward Prowse penalty made the contest competitive till the end.

The result moved Nottingham Forest three points clear of the drop zone, while Southampton are only mathematically safe from relegation if they win all remaining three games and Everton, Leicester City, and Leeds United lose all three games.
