Fulham Held At The Emirates, Cavani Scores in United Win

    April 19, 2021

Eddie Nketiah scored late into the stoppages time to deny relegation-threatened Fulham a vital three points at the Emirates Stadium.

With Sheffield United confirmed for relegation on Saturday after their 1-0 loss to Wolves, Fulham sits in eighteen and only separated from Blades by nineteenth placed West Brom and six points from safety.

The Cottagers need to win their remaining five matches to ensure their safety but have played two games more than Burnley and Brighton, who are above them.

However, the Gunners thought they had taken the lead when Dani Ceballos put the ball in the net, but the goal was chalked off for offside by the VAR after Bukayo Saka had strayed offside.

Nigerian forward Josh Maja then scored from the spot to put Fulham in the lead in the second half after Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel committed a foul.

The visitors were heading for a crucial win before Nketiah tapped in after Fulham’s goalkeeper, Areola spilled Dani Ceballos’ shot in the added time.

Meanwhile, Manchester United got past a stubborn Burnley 3-1 with Mason Greenwood scored a brace.

The win closed the gap between Manchester United and Manchester City to just 8 points with just six matches left.

Greenwood opened the scoring in the 48th minute before Burnley equalised two minutes later through James Tarkowski.

Greenwood got his brace six minutes before full time while Edinson Cavani added one more before the final whistle, Areolae Englishman believes that City can still slip.

You can never be sure, they might slip up. We have to concentrate on our next games. Anything’s possible, hopefully, they drop some points, but we just have to keep focused on our games.” Greenwood said.

Meanwhile, Leicester City will face Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup after Kelechi Iheanacho scored the winning goal for the Foxes in the second half.

Chelsea won the first semi-final against Manchester City on Saturday with a 1-0 win.
