Everton manager Sean Dyche lauds United forward Wout Weghorst, Ian Wright impressed with Marcel Sabitzer in attacking role

Manchester United will face Everton in the Premier League and ahead of the clash, the opposition manager, Sean Dyche has lauded Wout Weghorst. The Dutch forward has been in the line of fire recently for his below-par performances. But Dyche believes that there is no reason to underestimate or take him lightly.

United signed Weghorst on loan from Burnley in the winter transfer window to provide cover in attacking positions after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. He had a decent World Cup for the Netherlands and that probably convinced Erik ten Hag to go in this direction. But the target man is yet to find the back of the net and has not enjoyed much success in Ten Hag’s system. In nine Premier League, he has not found his first goal for the club.

Hence the critics are out and they are questioning his quality. Some feel that he does not match Manchester United’s standards.

However, Sean Dyche is convinced that the Dutchman is a very utility player who works hard. He then clarifies how different managers judge different players after looking at different things. But he lauded him as a professional right before both teams face each other.

“He’s a very good player. He worked very hard; he’s very professional, and different managers look for different things. I certainly wouldn’t underestimate him as a player. I hope he is not such a good pro if he plays on Saturday!” Dyche stated at the pre-match press conference.

Weghorst has found the net twice in 19 games for the Red Devils this season across different competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright was very impressed with United’s new addition, Marcel Sabitzer. Ten Hag recently deployed the Austrian midfielder in an attacking role in their 1-0 win against Brentford in the last Premier League and Wright was very impressed.

Sabitzer slides in the pockets of space and did well to manoeuvre the ball in tight spaces and also provided the assist to Marcus Rashford which separated the two teams. His performance was praised by Wright who enjoyed watching Sabitzer in a different role and felt that he was very effective.

“You have to say, Sabitzer came up with the goods against Brentford. With the assist and in certain other areas, he was getting into pockets, making some nice little moves and always making himself available. He got taken off in the end but I thought he did more than enough tonight in that No.10 position,” Ian Wright lauded.

Sabitzer is on loan from Bayern Munich and has done decently for the Red Devils. In 11 games across competitions, he has scored once and also assists as many times. He used to play a deeper role in midfield. But playing as an attacking midfielder will help him score more goals.
