England arrives in Qatar ahead of World Cup

    November 16, 2022

The Three Lions of England touched down in Qatar on Tuesday ahead of the FIFA World Cup starting in Qatar on Sunday.

The 26-Man team and the technical crew left England amidst a crowd of supporters cheering the team to bring home the trophy.

After reaching Qatar, the squad had a light training session on Tuesday evening and will continue their training for the rest of the week near Doha.

England manager Gareth Southgate stated that the team is ready for the highest level of football after missing out on winning the Euros last summer.

Meanwhile, the team skipper Harry Kane stated that while the tournament will be challenging, the team is prepared and ready to go in excitement.

“Excitement is building among everyone; We’re happy to be here and looking forward to being out on the training pitch. We’re trying not to think that far ahead, but, of course, that’s the dream and what we’re aiming to do,” Kane said.

England got to the semi-finals of the last FIFA World Cup in Russia, where they lost to Croatia in the semi-final before losing to Belgium in the third-place match.

In Qatar, they are grouped alongside Wales, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the United States of America in group B.

England’s first game is on Monday, 21st November, against Iran before a clash with the USA on Friday, 25th November, with their final group game on Tuesday, 29th November, against Wales.
