Elyounoussi plans to destroy Rangers in next derby match

    December 16, 2019

Celtic forward Mohammed Elyounoussi has promised to “destroy” Rangers in the New
year’s Derby after he went missing in action in the Cup final last weekend. The Norwegian attacker stated but seems off the pace due to the fact he was returning from an injury, which he hopes it would be his last time out injured.

According to reports, the 25-year-old revealed that Steven Gerrard’s sides were strong but vows not to let that repeat itself when they meet again at Celtic Park on the 29th of December.

He said, “the next time we meet again, we will destroy them. We have a lot of titles to win this season, so our focus has to be on track”. They [Rangers] proved to be a strong side in the Betfred Cup final as they started on a healthy foot. But we grew into the game in the second half”.

Elyounoussi revealed it wasn’t his best game as he didn’t live up to the expectations required of him as he hadn’t touched the ball in weeks. “I wasn’t happy with my performance, and I will try as much as possible to be in top shape for the derby coming up.” He said.

Mikey Johnston came on for Elyounoussi at half time at Hampden after the forward struggled to get past James Tavernier down Celtic’s left side. As the game wore on, Johnston threw away a golden opportunity after Odsonne Edouard’s fantastic through ball put the 20-year-old through on goal only for the forward to miss the target narrowly wide.

Elyounoussi had been in terrific form for the Hoops since he joined from Southampton this summer, scoring ten goals with four assists. The Premier League side the forward for 16million pounds from Basel, but he had since struggled to find his form before he joined Celtic on loan.
