Elneny extends Arsenal contract till 2024

    February 22, 2023

Arsenal’s longest-serving player Egyptian Mohammed Elneny has put pen to paper for an extension at the Emirates Stadium till 2024. The extension was done on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old joined Arsenal in 2016 from Switzerland-based side Basel and is currently the longest-serving player at the club, although he has been limited due to an ankle injury which he is currently nursing without a return date.

Nevertheless, he has managed 155 appearances for the club in that period. The 30-year-old has played 155 times since signing from Basel in 2016, and his last match for Arsenal was in the FA Cup against Oxford United, where he scored the first goal in a 3-0 win in January.

“I’m so happy, I love this club and our supporters so much, and I’ll give everything to help us be the best we can be. It makes me so proud to have represented this amazing club since 2016. The spirit and togetherness we have in our squad right now is so positive.” Elneny said.

Mohamed Elneny is a four-time Swiss league champion with Basel and has won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Arsenal. He is also a two-time Nations Cup finalist with Egypt, having lost the 2017 and 2021 AFCON finals to Cameroon and Senegal, respectively.

Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table with two points between them and second-place Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s side was held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest with Arsenal winning 4-2 against Aston Villa at Villa Park with two late goals from Jorghino and Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners traveled to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Saturday and continue on their journey to win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Pep Guardiola Manchester City will then travel to the vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on the same day.
