    EFL Cup draw: Liverpool to face Manchester City as Manchester United beats Aston Villa

    Premier League giants and rivals Manchester City and Liverpool will face each other in the fourth round of the EFL Cup after the draws were made on Thursday.

    Pep Guardiola signed are 8-time winners of the EFL Cup, while Liverpool are the current defending champion of the competition.

    The draws made on Thursday also saw the remaining teams in the competition paired against each other as Premier League side Wolves will be at home at the Molineux Stadium to play against Gillingham, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition.

    The game will be the first for the newly appointed Julen Lopetegui at the Molineux Stadium in December after the FIFA World Cup.

    Elsewhere, Manchester United, after their pulsating 4-2 victory over Aston Villa on Thursday evening, will play against Championship side Burnley.

    The Red Devils had to come from behind twice in the game to beat Aston Villa. Ollie Watkins gave the visitors the lead in the 48th minute before Antony Martial equalized a moment later.

    An own goal from Diogo Dalot in the 61st minute before Marcus Rashford’s 67th pulled them level again. Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay scored twice to ensure victory.

    It was another inspiring performance from the Argentine youngster and teenage winger Alejandro Garnacho, whose introduction to the game changed the dynamics.

    However, Manchester United and other teams will switch gears to the final round of Premier League matches this weekend before the World Cup break begins.

    Meanwhile, the next round of EFL matches will be played in the week commencing 19 December.
