Dortmund set to launch Haller bid in coming days

    June 20, 2022

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have been roaming the transfer market following the exit of their top marksman Erling Haaland.

Ever since, the Black and Yellow outfit has been looking to find a suitable replacement, and finally, they have identified their target in the person of Sebastien Haller.

The Ajax forward, who was in top form all through the just-concluded campaign, is now deemed fit by the Dortmund hierarchy to fill the departed Norwegian boots.

According to reports, Dortmund is now ready to attempt to bid for the Ivorian in the region of about €33m, including bonuses to land their man.

One interesting fact that could hasten this deal is that the 27-year-old is keen on joining Dortmund and happy to make a return to the Bundesliga, with inside sources claiming the offer is something Ajax will accept.

Haller had his first stint with Eintracht Frankfurt. He, however, left for premier league side West Ham where he struggled for form and game time before being sold to Dutch champions Ajax.

At Ajax, Haller was reborn as he struck a deadly partnership with Dusan Tadic at the frontline, banging goals in the Eredivisie, scoring a whopping 34 goals in just 42 outings in all competitions. These included  11 Champions Leagues goals in eight group stage fixtures and also went on to become the highest goalscorer before crashing out courtesy of a defeat at the hands of Benfica.

However, should there be any hiccups in the Haller deal, Dortmund have their sights into other alternatives with Sasa Kalajdzic and Lucas Alario on standby but reports  Haller remains the priority target.

If Dortmund could lay their hands on their preferred candidate, it will be a direct like-for-like replacement that promises to produce a lot of goals just like Halland as the new Bundesliga season beckons.
