Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has calmed worries of the club fateful following the midfielder’s injury.

The Dortmund skipper suffered an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Schalke over the weekend as he was stretchered off the pitch in tears.

With just a couple of months to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, this injury might have come as a big blow to Reus.

However, the good news is that the many worries of if the player will make it in time to the Germany squad ahead of the showpiece event in the middle east have now been eased as Kehl revealed it isn’t serious as it was initially.

Following an interview with the club media, the Sporting Director [ Khel ] revealed there are chances Reus will make Hans Flick’s squad to Qatar.

“It’s a sad moment for Marco after that injury in the Schalke game. I feel sorry and worried about him a lot. ”

“We have spoken with the club doctors, and thankfully the results show there isn’t any fracture. It is just minor ligament damage, and I am hopeful he will recover in time to make it with and join the National team.” He added.

Reus has so far been unlucky with Injuries, as shown in his health records so far. The same ankle injury saw him miss the 2014 World Cup edition in Brazil. However, that doesn’t take away the fact that he is instrumental to his club and country.

His game against Schalke was his 250th appearance in the Bundesliga before being halted by injury.

Youssoufa Moukoko’s goal was all that was needed to separate both sides as Dortmund claimed a vital win to place them second on the Bundesliga standings with 15 points, two behind league leaders Union Berlin who secured a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Dortmund resume Bundesliga action on the 1st of October after the international break as they make a trip to Koln.
