Cadiz back in action as La Liga’s top team pays a visit

It has already been a season to remember for the Cadiz C.F. faithful. Not only did they achieve the unthinkable and returned to the top tier of Spanish football, but also they’ve climbed the standings to challenge the top teams and made certain they are here to stay. Having a fantastic start to the season, Cadiz hasn’t slowed down and are currently sixth in La Liga, above the likes of Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao and only two points behind Real Madrid.

The well gelled team and defensive tactics have helped Cadiz to achieve some excellent results, including an incredible away victory over Real Madrid on 17th October. The team collected 11 points in their five-game unbeaten run, which only came to an end just before the international break as Atletico Madrid showed some class and took a clear 4-0 win at Wanda Metropolitano.

Cadiz’ strength lies in their defense and hard-working lineup, giving the opponent no easy chances. The Yellow Submarine, as the team is nicknamed (same as Villarreal), have only scored eight goals in their nine games and it goes without saying that a newly promoted club has no chance to stay up playing attack first – especially if the acquisitions for the season have cost less than £10M. The defense has done their part, though, with only six goals allowed before the heavy defeat at Atletico Madrid. Cadiz has managed well in keeping the score tight and poaching the goal here and there when it matters.

As many European top leagues, La Liga has seen plenty of surprises this season. Barcelona, Valencia and Sevilla are outside of top seven and league is led by Real Sociedad – a team touted as a dark horse for many seasons. Sociedad has definitely been the best team so far, having only lost once and drawn twice in nine games played. They’ve scored the most goals in the league, 19 and conceded 2nd least, four, only behind the ridiculously solid brick wall of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

The league leaders will visit Cadiz on the 22nd of November and we are expecting a hard-fought no holds barred matchup with a feisty and relentless underdog as the host. Don’t forget Dafabet’s Cadiz C.F. Prediction Challenge in order to win free weekly bets!
