Bruno Fernandes Scores As United Beat Watford at The Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes Scores As United Beat Watford at The Old Trafford

    February 24, 2020

Manchester United was impressive as they swept aside Watford 3-0 at the Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils took the lead just minutes before half time as January signing, Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes slotted home a 42nd-minute penalty.

In the second half, Anthony Martial scored in the 58th minute from another Bruno Fernandes assist to make the lead a comfortable one.

Bruno Fernandes then assisted youngster Mason Greenwood with 15 minutes left on the clock to make it 3-0.

Although Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo was substituted in the 80th minute as a replacement for Anthony Martial, the former Watford could not score against his former side as he awaits his first goal for Manchester united.

The win makes it three wins in the last five games in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and it is a return to winning ways for the Red Devils who were held to a 1-1 draw in Belgium by Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League.

It is a run of poor results for Watford as they are winless in their last five games played which now includes four losses and a draw.

The Hornets are now sitting in the 19th position with 24 points from 27 games and are just a point from safety while Manchester United are now 5th on the log with 41 points from 27 games as well.

While Manchester United will welcome Club Brugge to the Old Trafford on Thursday for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League tie, Watford will host league leaders Liverpool on the 29th of February.

In other results, Wolves thrashed bottom side, Norwich City by 3-0, Diogo Jota continued his goalscoring form from the Europa League where he scored a Hattrick in a 4-0 win over Españyol to score a brace again in the first thirty minutes of the game.

Meanwhile, Gabonese Forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Arsenal made it three wins a row after beating Everton 3-2 in an exciting game at the Emirates Stadium.
