Bournemouth Player Tests Positive For Coronavirus

    May 25, 2020

Premier League club Bournemouth has revealed that one of its players is among the two new coronavirus cases that was found out after the last set of tests in the Premier League with the total of positive cases in the EPL now eight overall.

The cherries, however, stated that the player’s identity will be kept secret while he self isolates for seven days as well as other players who have tested positive although the second player of the two new cases is yet to be revealed with the second case revealed to be at a different club.

Nine hundred ninety-six tests have been carried out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of last weeks with the staff of clubs as well as players tested accordingly.

The Championship, on the other hand, tested 1, 014 individuals from across its 24 clubs with Hull City revealing that two of its individuals tested positive.

“Following strict adherence to the Premier League’s return to training regulations, the club’s training ground remains a safe working environment for players and backroom staff, who will continue to be tested for Covid-19 twice per week,” Bournemouth said in a statement.

The first set of test results were announced on the 19th of May, with six positive cases across three clubs after 748 players and staff were tested.

Burnley’s assistant manager Ian Woan and Watford’s Adrian Mariappa are some of the players, and staff tested positive.

Since the March 13th suspension, the Premier League only returned to contact training last Tuesday as “Project Restart” is still being executed to ensure that the league resume soon although the 12th of June resumption is said to be not feasible.

However, Richard Masters, who is the Premier League Chief Executive, has stated that there is a need for flexibility and also confident of a June restart.
